About ARG! Productions

What's all this then?

  • This is the website for ARG! Productions. We're a small time animation studio that is rapidly moving up in the world. Currently we are based out of Savannah, GA and looking for extra animators to bring on board, especially from SCAD (the Savannah College of Art and Design). We will, however, talk to anybody with a good head on their shoulders.

Does ARG! stand for something?

  • Yes.

...okay, what does it stand for?

  • The short answer is "Adam's Road Gang". The long answer is, that before it was an animation production company, it was an unpopular webcomic that was drawn by Will White. Before it was a webcomic, it was a video game clan which primarily played StarCraft. The clan was, in fact, formed as an anti-clan in response to the realization of how dumb the average video game clan is. Its name was coined by Ian Adkins, who wanted to find a cool name that had an acronym, and sounded vaguely threatening, but was actually just really silly. The solution came when he received an ominous e-mail from an "adamsroadgang", which for all intents and purposes sounds like a road gang, presumably led by someone named Adam. In actuality, it was just his aunt using the family account. They all lived on Adams Road, and were not the typical criminal definition of a gang.

So why do all these things use the same name?

  • The name ARG! has taken on many meanings, but mainly it is an ideal. The original gaming 'clan' was nothing more than a group of friends that liked to have fun. We all answered to "Adam" who was a fictional leader (which meant we answered to no one, and more importantly we didn't have to deal with the drama of high schoolers on power trips). The comic was based (loosely) on the screen names of the main players in the clan. Now, the animation company seeks to have similar ideals, a large group of friends who just want to work together and have fun, and hopefully deal with as little drama as possible.

Is it working?

  • Mostly, yeah.
